A very brief introduction to Rose Lalonde. ROSE LALONDE-MARYAM 23. 04 - 12 - 1996 (more or less). MOTHER: Roxy "MOM" Lalonde UNIVERSE: BETA (originally) Rose, for the first thirteen years of her life, grew up the way most children do. Like most average children, she had a mother, she had a (fancy) house and for a short period of time, she even had a pet. However, it was a childhood spent trying to babysit an alcoholic mother and cultivating a finely tuned wit and intelligence in order to best said alcoholic mother in a one-sided battle of wits. Rose spent much of her formative years under the impression that her mother was trying to best her in a battle of wills. It never occurred to her that, actually, she just loved her and had a lot of problems. While that all seems fairly average and sort of normal by todays standards, Rose's origins are, actually, not normal at all. Her existence is a self-contained paradox: she was cloned in a space-lab by John Egbert, sent to Earth on a meteorite and landed at Roxy Lalonde's feet on December 4th, 1996. In 2009 she played a game with John Egbert, Jade Harley and Dave Strider and thusly ended the world which, by happenstance, also lead to the events which allowed John Egbert to create her. Homestuck is a long, complicated story, but the basics can be surmised as this: Rose destroys the world, Rose enters long, gruelling character arc to grow, Rose becomes a teenage alcoholic, Rose falls head over heels for a grey space alien and at the end, she helps save the world marries that grey space alien. At her core, Rose is kind. She cares for her friends deeply, and shows this through immense sarcasm, weird mothering and odd gestures. As a teenager, she was easily manipulated due to her belief in her own cleverness and as an adult she is ... maybe not that bad. Generally Rose's personality can be summed as: dry, funny, kind, deeply cut-throat in her humour and very weird. Also ignore all of this, we're in Epilogue city now, gang.
